The Chronic Pain Program
When it has been established that a patient's chronic pain is of a non-malignant nature, the shift in focus must change from absolute cure to effective management. The scientific evidence is overwhelming in regards to the most optimal and cost-effective treatment modality - namely, interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation. Programs that have individualized, flexible treatment plans with a focus on goal attainment exhibit the best outcomes. The multimodal therapy approach (multidisciplinary rehabilitation) is the most effective option for chronic pain management, and is strongly recommended by evidence-based guidelines of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Such treatment involves an individualized combination of medications, injections, osteopathic and chiropractic treatments, physiotherapy [including microcurrent electrical therapy, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (i.e. TENS, laser therapy, phototherapy, therapeutic ultrasound, and interferential current), active exercises (including aqua-fit exercises)], behavioural and psychological therapy, acupuncture, and other alternative therapies.
Our facilities offer well-structured multidisciplinary eight-week programs of intensive chronic pain management under the supervision of board certified pain consultant, Dr. Igor Wilderman, MD. ![]() |
